Basic Instincts // Dutch Fashion in Context

“Basic Insincts” is a fashion-exhibition presented by Premsela, the Dutch Institute for Design and Fashion, and the Museum for Modern Art Arnhem, going on from the 2nd of June until the 29th of Juli 2012, in the Eusebiuschurch in Arnhem.

It shows the work from 5 image-defining Dutch fashiondesigners : Iris van Herpen, Klavers van Engelen, Monique van Heist, Oda Pausma and Anne de Grijff. This together with the work of a few other designers.

It was a small exhibition with only a little bit of each designer, together with “No Show”, a short film by ArtEZ Fashion Masters, presenting the fashion show which displays the students’ graduation projects with both backstage and onstage visuals. I enjoyed it a lot, but missed a certain vibe and consistency.

But I was mostly, and not surprisingly, interested by the work Iris van Herpen, world famous because of her futuristic and innovative collections. Fascinating.

Unfortunately, it was forbidden to take to take pictures.
I would have loved to share with you what I saw.
